Some things stay with us from childhood. The smell of a freshly picked tomato, greens gathered straight from the garden, the first vegetables of the season brought to the table. And, of course, those long meals where family and friends come together, share good food, and enjoy conversations that seem to go on forever.
That's where our story begins.
We grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Mediterranean, where fresh ingredients, good food, and gathering around the table were simply a way of life. From an early age, we learned that a great meal is about more than what's on the plate. It's about where the food comes from, the care that goes into growing it, and the people we share it with.
For us, food has always been more than nourishment. It's a source of curiosity, discovery, connection, and joy.
Years later, our paths crossed. We discovered a shared passion for great food, a curiosity about the culinary world, and a deep appreciation for the way food brings people together. What started as a common interest gradually grew into a shared dream.
Eventually, that dream brought us to Chicago, where we decided to turn our passion into something real.
In 2025, 312 City Farms was born.
From the beginning, our vision was about more than simply growing and delivering fresh produce. We wanted to build meaningful relationships with local chefs and restaurants, providing ingredients they could trust, flavors they could get excited about, and quality they could count on.
In 2026, our journey reached an important milestone when we received grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the University of Chicago. This support helped us expand our growing capacity and take an important step toward making our vision a reality.
With the help of this grant, we increased our production to 5,000 ounces per month. Today, we continue growing fresh, high-quality produce right here in Chicago, bringing the same passion and dedication to our work that inspired us from the very beginning.
For us, growth isn't just about producing more. It's about reaching more kitchens, supporting more chefs, and helping bring fresh, locally grown ingredients to more tables throughout our community.
We brought a little piece of the Mediterranean spirit with us to Chicago: a belief in fresh ingredients, thoughtful growing, and the simple joy of sharing a good meal.
Because no matter where life takes us, we believe great food has a way of bringing people closer together. Sometimes, all it takes is something fresh, harvested at just the right moment, and a table full of people ready to enjoy it.
